Executive Summary

Founded in 1973, Cobra Golf joined forces with Puma in 2010 to form one of the most recognized partnerships in the industry. With over 45,000 SKUs across their global wholesale and retail sales channels, they needed a product information management system to keep all of that product data accurate and support centralized data management across each of their channels.

As their catalog and their operations grew, choosing the right PIM system became more and more critical. But a product information management (PIM) system gave them a way forward to manage product data, to distribute product data across multiple sales channels, and to maintain consistent product info without relying on manual processes.

The Challenge

A Growing Catalog, a Struggling System

As Cobra Puma's product catalog expanded across brands and regions, their legacy product information management system became a bottleneck. Product data management relied on manual updates and constant coordination between ERP systems and shopping platforms. That, of course, led to data errors and inconsistencies across their multiple sales channels. The system lacked key features like data sync and bulk editing. Scaling was difficult.

Another layer of complexity came from regional inconsistencies. Attributes as simple as the name of a color varied across markets and this created data discrepancies that slowed product launches. Without a strong Shopify integration, they couldn't make full use of Shopify's capabilities. As a result, maintaining accurate product data across multiple channels required way more effort than it should have.

Redundant manual data entry across multiple systems
Unreliable inventory management and data synchronization across storefronts
Inconsistent product attributes and naming conventions across regions
Limited ability to use Shopify-native features for managing complex product data

The Solution

Centralizing Product Data with a Product Information Management System Across Every Channel

Catsy's PIM system and digital asset management platform gave Cobra Puma a centralized platform for managing product data and digital assets, creating a true single source of truth across all sales channels. By integrating with existing ERP systems, the platform kept inventory management aligned while handling structured product data, product descriptions, and technical data in one place. With strong Shopify PIM integration and reliable data synchronization, product data updates now flow in real time, helping maintain consistent product data and improve data quality across multiple Shopify stores.

The architecture kept ERP systems as the source of record for inventory, while the PIM system managed product data and automated distribution across five Shopify storefronts. Channel-specific rules ensured each Shopify store received the right product details, while automated workflows reduced manual data entry and eliminated data discrepancies.

Product Hierarchy & Color Consistency

One Hierarchy. One Color Standard. Every Brand.

A customized three-level apparel hierarchy was introduced, organizing product data into Style at the parent level, Color as a grouped attribute, and Variant at the size level. This structure made it much easier to manage complex product data, keep merchandising logic aligned, and maintain consistent product data across brands and regions.

Catsy also solved one of the biggest sources of data discrepancies by standardizing color data. Instead of relying on free-text entries, every product now references a controlled color entity, eliminating duplicates and inconsistent naming across regions.

Standardized color codes and naming across the business
Shared color entities referenced across all SKUs
Consistent merchandising logic across brands and regions

Multi-Store Management

Five Storefronts. One Catalog.

Each Shopify store is configured individually but powered by a single master catalog inside Catsy. This centralized platform makes it possible to manage product data once and distribute product data across multiple sales channels without duplication.

Custom Product Selections

Each Shopify store receives only the product data relevant to its brand and region, keeping catalogs focused and easier to manage.

Channel-Mapped Attributes

Product attributes are automatically formatted to match the requirements of different sales channels, improving data accuracy and reducing data errors.

Digital Asset Delivery

Digital assets such as images, videos, and technical specs are delivered to each storefront in the correct format, supporting detailed product descriptions and a better customer experience.

Store-Level Merchandising Rules

Pricing, product relationships, and variant logic are handled per store without duplicating product data, making it easier to manage complex product data across multiple Shopify stores.

With a PIM system in place, businesses can move faster and scale more efficiently. Many teams see significantly faster time to market because product data flows are automated, updates are easier to manage, and accurate product data is always ready for distribution across multiple channels.
